OCS’s Social Impact Fund to Drive Social Responsibility in the Cannabis Sector
January 17, 2025 (TORONTO) – The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) announced its second call for applications for the Social Impact Fund (the Fund) to promote social responsibility in connection with cannabis. Through the Fund, the OCS supports projects and research to benefit people, communities, and the Ontario cannabis sector by creating value and sharing knowledge.
The OCS has broadened its eligibility scope and invites public healthcare organizations, incorporated not-for-profits, registered charities, and education institutions to apply for funding, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 for projects that are eight to 12 months in length. The application window will remain open until February 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
The funding available will support initiatives aligned with the three key pillars of the OCS’s Social Responsibility Strategy: advancing cannabis knowledge and promoting responsible consumption, supporting a diverse and inclusive cannabis industry in Ontario, and establishing a foundation for environmental sustainability.
“After a successful pilot, we are pleased to open our second call for applications for the Social Impact Fund, as we continue to invest in a socially responsible cannabis sector,” says David Lobo, President & CEO. “We look forward to welcoming new partners this funding cycle as we invest in programs, services and research that enhance understanding, create shared social value and drive positive change in the sector.”
The Fund, which is a part of the OCS’s multi-year Social Responsibility Strategy, aligns with OCS’s legislated mandate to champion a socially responsible industry, promote the responsible consumption of cannabis, and protect youth and vulnerable populations.
