OCS celebrates reaching 100 Authorized Cannabis Stores in Ontario

June 26, 2020 (TORONTO)This weekend, the Ontario cannabis industry celebrates a significant milestone with 100 retail stores now open in Ontario. The OCS extends a warm thank you and congratulations to its retail partners.

Retail stores are OCS’s partner in the fight against the illegal market, and every additional store makes it even easier for consumers to choose legal.

In working collaboratively with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), the OCS has made the expansion of private retail stores in Ontario its top priority for 2020-21.

The stores are all across Ontario:

East 16
First Nations 2
GTA 13
North 9
Toronto 38
West 22

As OCS continues to learn and improve processes, consumers can expect continued expansion of retail store locations in every region of the province. Consistent efforts by the OCS to regularly onboard new innovative cannabis products from licensed producers will also ensure that as more stores open, they will have the ability to create targeted, unique retail experiences that local consumers are asking for.

The OCS looks forward to welcoming many more stores in the months ahead. The 100th store opening marks yet another step towards a vibrant and successful cannabis marketplace that meets consumers’ needs and displaces the illegal market.
