OCRC Board announces new OCS leadership, growth remains primary focus

September 28, 2020 (TORONTO) – The Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation (OCRC) Board of Directors announced that, effective today, Thomas Haig has been appointed the interim President and CEO of the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS). Mr. Haig’s distinguished career in retail and merchandising, and in particular overseeing and leading retail and logistics businesses in Canada and internationally has positioned him as the ideal leader to assist the OCS through its next phase of rapid growth.

President and CEO Cal Bricker is moving on from his role in the organization. Over the course of the past year, the OCS has effectively responded to a transition of open allocation of cannabis retail licences in Ontario and is well positioned to meet future business needs.

In the coming months, the OCS will rapidly onboard hundreds of additional wholesale retail store clients, while maintaining its position as the largest e-commerce legal recreational cannabis platform in Canada through OCS.ca. Mr. Haig’s significant retail experience at the helm of iconic Canadian brands HBC – Stores and Specialty, Zellers, Giant Tiger and Danier as well as the M.H. Alaysha Group in Kuwait is expected to ensure the OCS is best positioned to further scale up to meet the needs of cannabis consumers.

The OCRC Board will continue to provide strong and effective governance during this transition period and looks forward to working with the entire OCS senior leadership team to deliver on its longer-term strategic vision.
