What’s the difference between THC and CBD?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are two of the most well-known cannabinoids found in cannabis. THC is the compound that’s primarily responsible for the plant’s intoxicating, psychoactive effects, while CBD is non-intoxicating. Products vary in how much of each they contain, so it’s important to check labels carefully. When applied topically, THC does not cause intoxication — with the exception of transdermal products, which can deliver cannabinoids into the bloodstream.
